[glow=red,2,300]You should be able to pick up a nice 028 for that price. Great saw. Oldie but a goodie. Probably cut more firewood than any other saw combined. They are everywhere so finding one shouldn't be a problem. You'll want to find an "electronic" model. Meaning it has an electronic ignition (coil). The earlier models had points and condenser, but easily switched over to "electronic" if need be.[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Those are bucking/felling spikes. Used to grasp and aid in felling or bucking thick barked wood, basically a fulcrum point.[/glow]
This model (044/MS440) saw is used heavily in the logging industry. Known for their power to weight ratio. The power head is 14lbs +/- and output is 5.4 bhp. Its not your grandmothers saw ;D

Great advice. Sorry to hijack. Whatever saw I wind up with will primarily be used for firewood processing, so the 028 sounds perfect.
Your saw sounds pretty awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to make it down on the 28th to see some in action.

I managed to run about 1.5 gal of fuel through it on Sunday. Pretty sure I put it through enough heat cycles.....now I can turn up juice on her a little bit ;D I dropped and bucked a 34" willow for Oshier. Fun.....scary.....but fun. Scary part......the tree was only about 25-30' from his house. Everything went as planned however and made a nice days work out of it. Nice to see old friends after a LONG winter.
