I havnt heard any Toms answering to my calls ( owl ,crow, hen) like usual . I havnt seen any around my property latley. I had a feeling this was gonna happen for some reason. I didnt see alot of brood last year and thought the rainy spring of 08 was the culprit. Anyone seen any around during their travels, I would appreciate a report if it was on or near public land , trying to plan out a spring hunt.

Ya' know, I was out fishing Saturday morning and said to myself "Self, (that's what I call myself) I wonder where those turkeys are I keep hearing" Just then, a herd of 4 deer ran along the opposite river bank and I lost track of the turkeys. Did I catch any fish? NO But if I bring the shotgun, all the damned trout will be doing 3 foot jumps 2 by 2 out of the water.
Load another trout in the launcher & PULL!
Hey-Rim- Good Luck with the birds, those oak quills are going to be sweet without the shot holes! Ted Nuget"esk to take one with the arrow- Kudos!!

Isnt that the way it works, You always see the deer during trout fishing and Turkeys while deer hunting, It certainly creates the impression that the quarry is aware of what the hunter is hunting.
Thanks for the Kudos, and it is looking like 4 Toms are comin around with alot more hens and jakes. The Biggest one without a beard, must of froze off over the winter. I thought I was getting good at my calling until I heard the whole flock answer to the truck door slammin!! These birds are irate and all worked up this spring, and one of them Toms is gettin ready to share the experience of the harvest with this ol'country boy.
